2 Local Victories for Parkland

We are thrilled to have two recent victories to share with you!

This past Monday, June 30, the San Carlos City Council voted against abandoning North Crestview Park. It was CGF, along with Sierra Club Loma Prieta Chapter, Defense of Place, Save North Crestview Park, and over 600 citizens who urged the council to honor the long-standing commitment by the city to permanently preserve this important parkland. Special thanks to councilmembers Matt Grocott and Bob Grassilli who listened to parks supporters; it was their two votes that carried the day.

We are also happy to report that last week the Santa Clara City Council voted to adopt a development impact fee ordinance. This ordinance will require developers to pay fees to provide funding for parks. Councilmembers voted in favor of this after receiving dozens of emails and hearing directly from many members of the community. There is still a lot to do for Santa Clara open space, but this is a great step in the right direction.

Thanks for speaking up for our local parks. As shown by these two victories, your voice does make a difference.

Sincerely,

All of us at Committee for Green Foothills
