A New Horizon

As I mentioned in a blog on May 15, we have entered into a new period for Committee for Green Foothills. We are changing how we do our work.

Taking a more proactive approach on critical advocacy issues is part of that change. To move definitively in this new direction, we restructured our organization. In 2017, we promoted Alice Kaufman to Legislative Advocacy Director, augmenting the coordination of our advocacy efforts to better realize our goals.

Now I am pleased to announce the creation of another new position: Director of External Affairs and Advocacy. This position will increase our capacity for strategic campaign planning while simultaneously strengthening the tie between our advocacy and marketing departments. And, if that wasn’t exciting enough, we’re thrilled to announce that Julie Hutcheson is filling this position.

Julie was our Santa Clara County Legislative Advocate for seven years before leaving this time last year for a position at a wonderful nonprofit, the San Jose Conservation Corps and Charter School. She returns to Committee for Green Foothills with new skills and a reinvigorated perspective.

In her new role, Julie will engage in the planning and implementation of our advocacy and marketing efforts in the counties we serve. Please join us in welcoming Julie to her new role.
