2019 Photo Contest

Calling all photographers! Love taking photos of local nature, wildlife, and the people who enjoy it? Until August 1st, submit your photos in our 2019 photo contest. As an organization dedicated to the protection of open space, having images to convey our mission is vital. Participate in our photo contest and you’ll not only help us grow our image database, but also get the chance to share your work far and wide.

We are very excited to connect you with local environmentalists and farmers as part of our prizes. Read below for more details. Have fun out there and don’t forget to bring your camera!

Prizes

Our grand prize winner will receive a nature photography tour of Jasper Ridge led by Dan Quinn.

Experience an exclusive morning exploring and photographing in Stanford’s Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve. Your host will be Dan Quinn, Jasper Ridge Docent, CGF Advisory Board member, and fellow photographer. Dan will work with you to craft a personalized visit of two to three hours: working with you to select time of year, time of day, and specific route. He is familiar with all of Jasper Ridge. Depending on your interests, we can focus on landscapes, birds, macro photography, or a mixture. We may even see some wildlife. Bring your own camera gear – even phones can capture good images nowadays. If you want, you can bring one or two friends – or come alone. This offer is open for one year.

You can see a sample of the variety of ecosystems at Jasper Ridge, and the progression of the seasons, at Dan’s web site.

Our second place winner will receive $100 in Carrot Cash to be used at any Pacific Coast Farmers’ Market Association (PCFMA) Farmer’s Market.

With almost 50 locations throughout the Bay Area, the PCFMA establishes and operates community-supported certified farmers’ markets and other direct marketing outlets that provide: viable economic opportunities for California farmers and food producers, local access to farm fresh products, support for local businesses and community organizations, and education concerning food, nutrition and the sustainability of California agriculture.

Our third place winner will receive 2 vouchers for Spade and Plow produce boxes.

Spade and Plow is passionate about feeding people, growing certified organic food for our community, and creating the foundation for a strong community and a diverse and vibrant food scene in Santa Clara County. You can find their produce through 6 South Bay Farmers Markets, a year round CSA program, several produce retailers, and the South Bay’s best restaurants.
