2015 Photo Contest Winners

As an organization dedicated to the protection of open space, having images to convey our mission is vital. Our photo contest participants not only help us grow our image database, but also get the chance to share their work and inspire others to get involved in the protection of local open space.

Thank you to everyone who shared their gorgeous photos with us, and to all of you who helped choose the winning photos by voting for your favorites on our Facebook page. We’re lucky to have so many talented artist in our community.

Congratulations to the winners: Ronald Horii, Tony Iwane, Kirsten Keith, Naomi Montelongo, and Kyrod Myatt! Naomi was the biggest winner this year, and had 5 of her photos receiving the most likes on Facebook. Her photos included the one featured here (third from top) of Pigeon Point Lighthouse in Pescadero. Kyrod was another big winner, with two of his photos in the top 10, including this photo (top) of a trail at Russian Ridge Open Space Preserve. Also capturing local open space preserves were Kirsten, with her photo of a stormy day at Arastradero Preserve (second from top); and Ronald with his image of wildflowers at Coyote Ridge (bottom). Finishing our top 5 winners was Tony and his photo of a crab spider on a Poppy (fourth from top).

In addition to the winners, thanks to David Burruto, AnaLisa Campos, Helen Chapman, Philippe Cohen, Mark Grzan, Dan Quinn, Nancy Reyering, Karl Sveinsson, and Michael Max Viramontes for also submitting and sharing your beautiful photos with us. All of your images will help us advance our mission to protect local nature, and inspire more people to get involved.
