In the News on SEQ Victory

lafco mtgAfter decades of work on the issue, we have great news to share from Morgan Hill. On Friday, March 11, the Local Agency Formation Commissioners (LAFCo) denied the City of Morgan Hill’s request to annex and develop hundreds of acres of farmland in the Southeast Quadrant (thank them by filling out the form below). Today’s article in the Mercury News, Attempt to widen borders rejected: Fate of farmland weighed after sports fields, school nixed by county agency (3/14/16) by Eric Kurhi, gives a great summary of the decision.

Kurhi also gives credit to our work on the issue, saying “This decision is great news for Morgan Hill residents and our entire region,” said Megan Medeiros, executive director of the Committee for Green Foothills, which has been fighting the proposal for years. “We shouldn’t be building on prime farmland, especially when there isn’t a proven necessity and a lack of community support.”

Thank you to all of our members and supporters who made this victory possible. Please join us in also thanking LAFCo Commissioners.
