We criticize leaders when they make the wrong decisions and congratulate them for making the right ones. So while we often disagree with San Jose Mayor Ron Gonzales, we want to congratulate him now for making San Jose the 74th city in the world to sign the United Nations’ “urban environmental accords.”

While many of the environmental provisions go to issues beyond CGF’s core issues of open space and natural resource protection, they also include smart growth concepts that can protect open space.

This action by the mayor is a good one. We hope we will have additional reasons to congratulate Mayor Gonzales in the future.
