Nature's Inspiration banner 2024 with background image of the coast

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Green Foothills’ 21st annual Nature’s Inspiration celebration on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at Oceano Hotel & Spa in Half Moon Bay with special guest, Congresswoman Anna Eshoo. Our new Coastal Resilience Program video premiered at the event, and you can watch it here.

We enjoyed a picturesque view of the San Mateo coast from the lovely Oceano Hotel as we celebrated the beauty of the coast and our work to protect it with Congresswoman Eshoo. Green Foothills has a long history of championing the coast and the public’s access to it.

If you were unable to attend, you can still support Green Foothills by making a donation today!

Information about next fall’s Nature’s Inspiration event will be posted here in 2025. Questions: Jocelyn Rodriguez at 650.968.7243 x314, [email protected].

About Our 2024 Guest Speaker

Anna E. headshot

Congresswoman Anna Eshoo

Congresswoman Eshoo’s congressional district stretches along the San Mateo County coast and includes the communities of Pacifica, Half Moon Bay, and Pescadero. She has been a champion for open space protection and a longtime supporter of Green Foothills.

Before her election to Congress in 1992, Congresswoman Eshoo served for 10 years on the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors where she staunchly opposed offshore drilling on the San Mateo Coast and spearheaded the protection of sensitive habitats in the County General Plan. In Congress, she secured federal funds to purchase and protect the 1,000-acre Phleger Estate, the 4,000-acre Rancho Corral de Tierra, and the 5,800-acre Cotoni-Coast Dairies.

“For over 60 years, Green Foothills has been the gold standard in protecting open space, natural resources, and farmland in all of San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties. Their record is unmatched and we are all the beneficiaries of their superb advocacy.”
– Congresswoman Anna Eshoo

Thank You to Our 2024 Sponsors

Nature’s Inspiration underwrites a significant portion of Green Foothills’ annual expenses. We depend on funds raised from this event to support our work so that we can create the greatest impact. Your generous support makes it possible for us to champion climate resilience and biodiversity through the protection of open space and natural resources in San Mateo, Santa Clara, and San Benito Counties. Since 1962, our advocacy has resulted in the permanent protection of 200,000 acres.

Thank you to our Nature’s Inspiration 2024 sponsors.

From our founding more than 60 years ago until today, Green Foothills has been the local, vocal and effective protector of this region’s natural wonders. We have all benefited tremendously from the work of Green Foothills.

Jeff Segall

We owe a debt of gratitude to Green Foothills for their decades-long work standing up for nature and people. They have been effective advocates for the region’s open space, farmland, and natural resources, protecting our region’s natural heritage for future generations. As we experience the growing effects of climate change, the role Green Foothills plays as the conscience of the community will be needed more than ever.

I am grateful for the opportunities that Green Foothills opens up for sincere and organized acts of solidarity that collectively over time will result in change and movement. As a Chicana/Mexika mother and dancer, on the red road, Green Foothills inspires me to take action and center Mother Nature and First Peoples in this struggle to retain land as free and sacred.

Tamara Alvarado

My support for Green Foothills stems from our reliable long-term passionate commitment to protect local open space now and in the future. This in turn benefits our Wildlife friends and the Earth, essential partners of the human race!

Matt Burrows

Many of the most important decisions affecting our natural environment involve land use decisions made by our local governments. For more than 60 years, Green Foothills and its allies have worked diligently and effectively to assure that local government decisions in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties have protected open space and prevented sprawl.

Don Weden

The work of Green Foothills is legendary and extremely environmentally significant to efforts to address climate change.
