While we celebrate the recent victory of Measure AA, we’re gearing up for the next ballot measure to fund local open space. YES on Measure Q is well underway, and we are doing everything we can to get it passed.
On November 4, voters in southern Santa Clara County (including the cities of San Jose, Milpitas, Santa Clara, Campbell, Morgan Hill, and surrounding areas) will have the chance to protect Santa Clara Valley open space for future generations.
Specifically, Measure Q would:
- Connect trails along the San Francisco Bay and in San Jose
- Protect and restore habitat and wildlife corridors in the hills (including on Coyote Ridge, with its population of endangered and threatened species)
- Open new preserves and provide visitor recreation amenities and environmental education programs
- Support community gardens and urban forest projects
- Preserve agriculture and protect wildlife corridors in Coyote Valley
- Protect watershed lands, thus safeguarding drinking water supplies from pollution and toxins
Committee for Green Foothills believes everyone should have access to nature. We are working to ensure that people today and tomorrow can get outside and enjoy nature. That is why we have endorsed Measure Q and are working closely with the campaign to get this important measure passed. We hope you will join us in these efforts.
