A Special Message from Katie Coyote

Dear Friends,

Hi, I’m Katie Coyote. And I need your help.

I’m proud to call Coyote Valley my home. Sadly, for as long as I can remember Coyote Valley has been under threat. There have been countless proposals to cover my home with a manufacturing plant, a mini-city with 25,000 homes, and more recently a giant warehouse that would include 90 semi-trucks. I don’t know about you, but I really don’t want to live in a warehouse. I don’t even think I could.

Coyote Valley has always been a special place. It’s the only route I can travel between the Mount Diablo range and Santa Cruz Mountains. This is important because it enables me to find food and new mates to breed with. In addition to being a wildlife corridor, Coyote Valley is home to farmland and a vital part of our local watershed. For these reasons, I hear a lot of humans like the area too.

Despite all of these things that make Coyote Valley great, there are still people who want to develop it without thinking hard enough about wildlife like me. That’s why I’m thankful for my friends at Committee for Green Foothills. They’ve been leading the effort to protect Coyote Valley for decades.

I can’t speak for myself. Join Committee for Green Foothills in speaking up for me and my home on May 3 for SV Gives.

Thanks for sharing your voice and speaking up for me.
