People Who Give Us Hope: Zoe Kersteen-Tucker

Zoe Kersteen-Tucker has been a coastal advocate for decades, helping to craft some of the coast’s most iconic campaigns like the Devil’s Slide Tunnel initiative. She has represented the coastside as a San Mateo Planning Commissioner, directed the Coastside Land Trust, and helmed Committee for Green Foothills as an Executive Director and President from 2001-2003. Her tenure as Executive Director saw Committee for Green Foothills advocate for important limitations on Stanford’s hillside expansion and celebrate its 40th anniversary as an organization. A key ally on environmental and transportation issues, Zoe was instrumental in expanding Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District’s jurisdiction to the coastside. It is immensely fitting that she was appointed this year as the first San Mateo Coast resident to sit on MidPen’s Board of Directors. Congratulations Zoe, we look forward to seeing your advocacy continue for years to come!
