Want to be featured in Green Foothills’ e-newsletter, social media and other publications? Now through August 15, you can submit your photos taken at the many parks, natural landscapes, beaches or farms of Santa Clara and San Mateo County.

Grab your camera, head outside, and explore all the beauty our area has to offer. Whether you choose to go for a hike, spend some time on the coast, or visit a local farm, we can’t wait to see your photos! Read below for more details.

Important Dates

  • All contest entries must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. PST on Tuesday, August 15, 2023.
  • Winners will be announced in our email newsletter on August 30, 2023.

Grand Prize: $150 REI Gift Card + Annual Subscription to Bay Nature Magazine

How to Enter the Green Foothills 2023 Photo Contest

  • Submit your photo(s) with your name, location of the photo, and email address through Facebook Messenger, direct message to our @greenfoothills Instagram, or by emailing [email protected].
  • 10 photo limit per person.
  • Photos must be taken within San Mateo or Santa Clara County.
  • All photos submitted must be your original work and free from any third-party copyright restrictions.
  • Photos submitted to other local contests are not allowed.
  • Please specify the location where each photo was taken (example: name of park or preserve).
    Use the following naming convention for each of your files: YourFullName_Location_Photo#
  • All contest entries must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. PST on Tuesday, August 15, 2023. The winner will be announced on August 30.

Your Rights

While photographers retain ownership of all copyrights, by submitting an image for entry in this contest you automatically give Green Foothills the permission and rights to store, display, distribute, use, and reproduce the image, its thumbnails, and your name as the photographer, indefinitely in any media without notification or compensation.
