My Epic Win for Hillsides in 2014

Now that Alice told you about her epic win speaking up for local parkland, I’d like to share my favorite epic win from 2014. As you read this, I hope you’ll join me and make a tax-deductible year-end gift of $250, $100, or $50 today. If you donate before 12/31, your donation will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $5,000.

I am dedicated to protecting our hillsides.

Have you ever visited Coyote Ridge in the springtime? It’s a sight worth seeing, and one of my favorite local hikes. The rolling hills covered in native wildflowers and dotted with Bay Checkerspot Butterflies, it reminds me why I love the work I do.

This year, YCS Investments was proposing to build an 80-lot subdivision in the middle of sensitive, hillside habitat east of San Jose.

My favorite epic win was when I championed the successful effort to convince the Santa Clara County Planning Commission to deny this proposal. While these hills aren’t protected forever, we sent a clear message to YCS that our community won’t tolerate paving over our local hillsides.

Ensuring sound land-use policy is what I, and Committee for Green Foothills, stand for. I hope you will join me in speaking up to protect our hillsides from unnecessary sprawl. If you haven’t already, please make a tax-deductible gift of $250, $100, or $50 today.

Thank you for making our work possible,

Julie Hutcheson
Legislative Advocate
